Woodcrest Track Day 2022

GO ISLA GO!

Woodcrest Track Day 2022 was awesome! So much has changed for our sweet Isla girl since Track Day last year but nothing has slowed her down! I hear every day about other parents elsewhere constantly being told “No” by their schools in regards to assisting their kids who have unique or special needs. Not only does our amazing PNGISD faculty say ”yes”, they go above and BEYOND every single day to make sure Isla has everything she needs to not only be included, but to thrive!

Isla ran alongside her teacher, Mrs. Dews holding a tether to assure she stayed on the track and was safe. Thanks to this assistance Isla could run confidently and she came in 3rd place! YAY!

As Isla ran all of her fellow second graders cheered her on from the field. Hearing the chanting of “Isla! Isla! Isla!” from all of those sweet kids as they cheered on their friend brought tears to my eyes.

Knowing that this disease wants to take away her ability to walk is a weight that sits like a rock in my heart. Seeing her not only still have the ability to run, but to place 3rd in a 400 meter race reminds me that God is watching over our girl and keeping her strong while we wait for our cure.
