Dr. Drack Update

4/17/25:

WHEW! What a day!

It was a long day of being poked and prodded (in her eyes, nonetheless) but I am so so so thankful to say we have a lot of great news. Isla’s distance vision is remaining stable at 20/1000 and her closeup vision (@1.5 inches distance) went from 20/800 in both eyes last year to 20/250 in her right eye and 20/100 in her left! THIS IS AMAZING! Her optic nerve is still going strong and although there seems to be a slight thinning of her retina, Dr. Drack said we should keep in mind there are variables in these tests and the important thing is clearly her eyesight is remaining strong.

Obviously her eyes aren’t really “healing”, she is just better learning how to process information quicker and more accurately with what she has. I am so proud of her bravery and her will to not let vision impairment slow her down.

Dr. Drack confirmed that what we are seeing with Isla is an anomaly she has never seen before. This level of stability for as long as she’s held it is beyond doubt indicative of SOMETHING working miracles for her. And I already know exactly what it is…

It’s the medication (Isla being one of the very first to start) you all helped us obtain through fundraising.

AND It’s the prayers you all have showered her with since her diagnosis. God is answering our prayers to keep Isla healthy.

I am so grateful. I couldn’t ask for more.
